A Bold Step Forward
In 2017, Lumbung Architect made a pivotal decision to expand beyond Bali by opening its first office in Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital and largest city. This move was driven by growing demand from clients in Java and a desire to bring the firm’s signature Balinese design approach to a broader market. The Jakarta office marked Lumbung Architect’s transformation from a regional Bali practice into a nationally operating architecture firm.
From 2×2 to 40 Square Meters
The Jakarta journey began humbly — in a compact 2×2 meter room with a small but determined team. Through consistent project delivery and a growing client base, the office expanded steadily. Today, the Jakarta office occupies a 40-square-meter workspace housing 15 dedicated team members, including architects, designers, and project coordinators who serve clients across Java and beyond.
Bringing Bali to the Capital
The Jakarta office carries the same design DNA that defines Lumbung Architect’s Bali work — an emphasis on natural materials, tropical design principles, and culturally rooted aesthetics. For Jakarta-based clients dreaming of Bali-inspired homes or commercial spaces, the local office provides direct access to the firm’s expertise without the distance barrier. This expansion reflects Lumbung Architect’s belief that great tropical architecture belongs everywhere, not just on the island where it was born.
