Umber Villa is a dramatic clifftop-area residence in Ungasan, Bali, named after the rich earth-toned pigment that defines its material palette. Perched in the elevated terrain of the Bukit Peninsula, the villa commands sweeping views toward the Indian Ocean while its architecture draws color and texture from the sun-baked limestone landscape of southern Bali.
Umber Villa takes its identity from the geological character of Ungasan’s Bukit Peninsula — a landscape of sun-bleached limestone cliffs and warm, iron-rich earth. The umber-toned plaster walls echo the surrounding terrain, making the villa appear to grow from the clifftop rather than sit upon it. The architecture is oriented entirely toward the ocean, with each space choreographed to frame a different quality of the vast seascape — from the intimate framing of a bedroom window to the limitless horizon of the infinity pool edge.
