Design Overview

Mawi Mentari is a sun-drenched island retreat in Lombok, NTB, named after the renowned Mawi surf break and the Indonesian word for sun. The design captures the raw, untamed beauty of Lombok’s southern coastline, creating an architecture that is rugged yet refined — a place where the drama of ocean and cliff meets the comfort of considered design.

Design Concept

Mawi Mentari channels the spirit of Lombok’s legendary surf coast — wild, powerful, and utterly captivating. The architecture is designed to withstand the elements while celebrating them, using robust local stone and weather-hardened timber to create spaces that feel carved from the landscape itself. Every terrace, every opening, every pool edge is oriented to capture the spectacle of sun meeting sea, making the daily sunset not just a view but the architectural centerpiece of the home.
